Stefan Schubert was born in Munich in 1966. He began his studies while still at school at the Munich Conservatory, and later at the Universities of Music in Munich and Freiburg im Breisgau. His teachers included Prof. Günther Falkenroth and Prof. Hans Heinz Schneeberger. He has also received important inspiration from Prof. Igor Ozim, with whom he attended numerous master classes. Stefan Schubert has been a member of the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn since 1993, and since 2003 he has also been responsible for the planning and organisation of the replacement musicians there.

Concert activities have taken the sought-after chamber musician throughout Germany, Switzerland and even to Taiwan. With his chamber music ensembles, the "Schubert Quartet Heilbronn" and the "Trio Papillon", he has been invited regularly to classical gala trips on ships of the "Reederei Deilmann", such as the "MS Deutschland" and the "MS Mozart". His chamber music partners include not only his colleagues but also well-known musicians such as Sebastian Manz, Francois Killian and Lajos Lencses. His repertoire includes all musical styles, from early baroque to jazz.
