Jun Hee An was born and raised in South Korea. At the age of 14, she attended the Idyllwild Arts Academy in California for two years. She studied at Seoul Arts High School with Sung-sik Yang and Ho-young Pi until 2002 and then completed a bachelor's degree programme in orchestral music at Yonsei University. She then participated in the Toho Gakuen Orchestra Academy (Japan, Toyama) and was, among others, concertmaster of the Yomiuri Philharmonic Orchestra.

From 1999 to 2002, Jun Hee An participated in various music competitions: Kyoung Music Competition (1st prize), Su-won Music Competition (1st prize), Music Journal Music Competition (3rd prize), Sook-myoung Music Competition (3rd prize) and Sung-shin Music Competition (3rd prize).

She came to Germany in 2008 to study for a Master's degree with Christoph Schickedanz at the HfMT Hamburg. The subsequent internship with the Philharmonic Orchestra Kiel was followed by a position in the orchestra's first violin section.
